The 4 Pillars of the YPN
1 Professional Development
The YPN continues to create multiple opportunities for our members to develop and broaden their skills. PD events vary from bringing in local business leaders to having members present on their areas of expertise. Topics range from big picture strategic business planning and goal setting to leadership training, investing and technology.
2 Community Involvement
The YPN believes in making our community a better place to live, work, and play. As leaders in our community, we value community involvement and continue to take on ambitious community projects. Our projects are connected locally within our community, economy, environment and in support of our youth.
We aren't afraid to take on large scale projects such as saving the Nanaimo Train Station, creating the YPN Community Gardens or lending a hand to smaller community initiatives such as The Nanaimo Child Development Centre Silly Boat Regatta, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Vancouver Island, CANstruction, and Relay for Life.
3 Business Networking
We constantly encourage our members to get to know each other in a more meaningful way through our signature events. These include "Meet & Greets", speed networking nights, corporate functions and social gatherings.
The YPN has been very successful at creating an environment for business referrals and many of our members have developed strong business connections within the group. Our members work hard at creating long lasting relationships based on trust and mutual respect.
4 Social Networking
Our social events are designed to provide a more casual atmosphere for members to get to know each other on a personal level. We also have group functions designed to provide a more casual atmosphere for members to get to know each other on a personal level.
Our bi-weekly happy hour is our cornerstone social event which varies locations at pubs and restaurants throughout Nanaimo on every second Friday. Past events include indoor rock climbing, curling, tennis, hiking, and of course family friendly BBQ's.
